My name is John and I’m honoured to be able to share my story. As someone who has personally battled addiction, I am well aware of the struggles the guys in our program go through. So many have grown up in dysfunctional homes, have low to no self esteem and use their addictions as a coping mechanism. Some of the guys I’ve worked with over the years have relapsed, some I’ve never seen again, and some guys have turned their lives around. When they can turn their lives around, not only do they change their way of thinking, but they change their lives and have a chance to get their family back, build their self esteem, and restore what their addiction had robbed them of.
We see miracles happen here every day.
I love volunteering with New Life Community because I see the change in the lives of many. When someone comes in for a meal, we’re able to connect with them, encourage them no matter where they are at in life, and provide help when they’re ready to make a change. I can’t help but think of my own life and struggles. If there hadn’t been a community of people to help me, I wouldn’t be living this blessed life I do today married to my wonderful wife, and in close relationship with my two sons, 10 grandkids, and 2 great grandkids. That’s why I volunteer and give to New Life Community. By doing so, I spark hope in the lives of so many who are hurting and don’t know what to do. We help unearth people’s potential and help them get back what they’ve lost along the way … themselves.
I encourage you to give generously of your time and donations to New Life Community. And God bless you as you give and help change the lives of others.
